It was a cool, gray all morning, and action seemed muted as well. Still, a
few new year birds and some continuing fun birds.

Wood Duck - male, in the Shore Lagoon
Spotted Sandpiper - Crescent Pond where they have bred for several years
Caspian Tern - flying along shore and calling
Mourning Dove - flushed in Promontory Point
Barn Owl - early, one flew into firs near the conifer box, kleaking
Cedar Waxwing - two in the central meadows
Warblers - Orange-crowned, Yellow, Wilson's, Common Yellowthroat, and
Yellow-breasted Chat continues; was vocalizing continuously from the
shrubbery adjacent the SE corner of the rugby field
Black-headed Grosbeak - near the off-leash area
Lazuli Bunting - male, singing on Kite Hill, near the location where a pair
has nested successfully the last two years

For the day, 49 species; with WODU, MODO, YWAR, BHGR and LABU new, 115
species for the year.
