Tweeters all -

Had a wonderful or shall I say a hummer of an evening yesterday, watching little Donna back on the nest, rolling those little eggs around, seeing her change position in the nest, NESW (couldn't the W be a T (Twest?) to spell my most favorite thing (I think even more than chocolate!) NEST!! I've been watching her (after just happening to notice her back in the nest last Sunday) now for a week and trying to figure out how long before the eggs might hatch - how soon I forget. Not that I want to rush anything, I could watch her all day sitting up there. I haved noticed she can be gone longer to come down for a sip of nectar and then go to the other trees nearby and feed the chicks...

...but little ones from a previous brood are now coming to the feeder on the deck and was able to get a few photos - very calm at the feeder for as close as I was.

As the sun set, watching the nest in the evening light, it was amazing to see the detail of the lichens and spiderwebs highlighted by this beautiful glow. Truly magnificent.
