This morning while birding the Rattlesnake Lake Recreation Area I
noticed a pair of COMMON LOONS on the lake. It is always cool to see
these birds in breeding plumage on a freshwater lake although I think
they will be moving on as soon as the boat traffic picks up.
I arrived at the lake early and it was a good thing for by 10:30 AM
there were people all over the place and parking was at a premium.
This is where the Discovery Pass really paid off as parking at the
trail head location was not a problem whereas the remainder of the
Recreation Area parking was jammed. Birding was pretty good early in
the morning and WARBLING VIREOS were calling everywhere. Some
additional sightings included:

Spotted Sandpiper
Willow Flycatcher
Hammond's Flycatcher
Swainson's Thrush
Black-throated Gray Warbler
Townsend's Warbler
Wilson's Warbler
Black-headed Grosbeak
Western Tanager

Cheers and Good Birding;
