>From rickswan at telus.net Delta BC Canada I'm told there was no luck with the Wagtail at the South End Of 34th Street Western Ladner Delta BC
You can get there by Driving down the Delta Port Way Highway taking the 41 B Exit North Bound Take the Next Left at the Big Barn and Bobs Your Uncle Your There No sign of the Fancy Pipit either ! BUT the Tropic Kingbird was at the End of River Road West Which is the achieved by Driving North on 34th Street to the T Intersection and Turning Left [ West ] And Driving to the Far End of River Road West Get out climb the Dike and Head West Walking Check out the Area Near the Pilings on the River
Never fear If you Miss the Rarities Walk out and around the Point on the dike I saw 10 Meadow Larks and Three at Least Short Eared Owls on the Foreshore Marsh Sparing with the Harriers
And there are Lots of Opportunities to see Shore Birds Off the Causeway at Delta Port At around 14:28 Today in the Northern Corner of the Causeway there was Hundreds Of Black Bellied Plovers and other shore Birds Counted 1060 Brant Geese Off Shore
Several Hundred Snow Geese were on the Western Side of the Coal Port Causeway You can see this area By Being a Bit adventurous Crossing a Log Bridge [ Not a Approved Structure ] over the Ditch at the South end of 34th and Climbing the slippery Bank of the Dike slope
The Causeway is an Industrial area With Moving Trains and NUT BAR Container Truck Drivers watch Yourselves here The Delta Port South Perimeter Road is a Fairly new roadway so Up Grade your GPS Maps save some valueable Birding time
Of course for the veterans You can Access River Road West the Old way through Down Town Ladner the old route to Riefels
15 to 16 Tundra Swan Flew over the Boundary Bay Dike at Beach Grove This Morning They were heading Fast and strong to the North and Up the Fraser Valley I GUESS ? 5 to 6 Trumpeters Followed shortly there after crossing the Bay from the NW Corner they landed off 88 th Street in the North Eastern Bay
25 to 28 Greater White Fronts were also flying about the General Area
So you can come up and Miss the rarities and still get some regulars
