hi:

went back to see if the young goldie was still at sikes lake this
afternoon. saw a big bird close to carnation farm road, activated the
blinkers and scanned it. definitely eagle, definitely not bald eagle, but
looked somehow different from what i saw on previous sighting. about that
time another bird buzzed the one i was looking at and it was the bird from
yesterday or one just like it. two juvenile golden eagles. one in the
plumage sibley calls first year and the second in what he calls second year
dress. time was about 1 pm and both birds stayed busy for the time we were
there. much more active than bald eagles of similar age seem to be.

as we left driving back over the sikes lake trestle bridge we were treated
to an incoming flight of five trumpeter swan adults who landed at the south
end of the lake.

pretty slick.

regards,

t
