Hi Tweets,

In addition to a late sighting of an OSPREY (photographed on Oct 24 by Mick Thompson) and an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN! (also seen and photographed by Mick Thompson on Nov 19), here are some not-quite-so-rare sightings of birds at the south end of the lake:

Lake Sammamish State Park, King, US-WA
Nov 18, 2014 8:15 AM - 11:55 AM
Protocol: Traveling
2.5 mile(s)
Comments: Sharon Aagaard and Stan Wood birded with 12 others at Eastside Audubon's monthly bird walk at Lake Sammamish State Park on Nov 18, 2014, from 8:00 am to noon. We had sunny weather for the duration of the walk, 30-44F, 0-2 mph. HIGHLIGHTS: two RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS tending sap wells; heard a HAIRY WOODPECKER and a DOWNY WOODPECKER; a COMMON LOON; 3 GREBE species (Western, Horned and Pied-billed); two COMMON RAVENS flew low over the parking lot; a SPOTTED SANDPIPPER was foraging near the Issaquah Creek outlet; a pale-eyed HERRING GULL lounging with the other gulls at Sunset Beach; a flock of RED CROSSBILLS flew overhead; and there multiple sightings of PINE SISKINS. 55 species for the day; and still at 130 species for the year. The next bird walk is DECEMBER 23. No pre-registration, just show up depending on your mood or the weather. Since this is a state park, a Discover Pass is necessary to park ($10 daily, $30 annual). We meet in the large parking lot to the left just inside the main park entrance, now signed as the Costco Parking lot, but we meet at the far end towards the lake (not the boat launch entrance).
