The Edmonds waterfront is finally becoming interesting again. The grebes and all three scoters are back. So are the Bonaparte's and Mew Gulls. We have had a couple of Common Tern (code 3) sightings of single birds. There has been no Parasitic Jaeger sighting for over a week, despite all of the small gull activity. We did see a Peregrine (code 3) from the public pier yesterday.

On September 26th there were about 20 Cackling Geese (code 3) in the marsh. There have also been two recent marsh appearances of Northern Pintails (code 3). One on the first day and two for the second sighting. A Northern Pintail flew by the public pier yesterday. We thought September 23rd was the last Western Sandpiper sighting in the marsh, but two were present yesterday morning.

There have been several observations of a trio of Greater White-fronted Geese (code 3) at a couple of locations in the Edmonds Bowl. The most recent sighting was September 29th. Our big miss for the year so far is Turkey Vulture (code 3). It is becoming less likely that we will spot one but we remain optimistic.

If you spot a tern this month on the Edmonds waterfront, look closely to distinguish between Common and Forster's. The latter is a code 4 Edmonds bird. Forster's has only been seen in October, so now is the time to be looking carefully.

We are at 175 species for the year.
