Hey Tweets,

It's 129 miles to Westport, we've got a full tank of gas, half a trunk of
birding optics, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.........HIT IT!!!!

My father arrives in Seattle tonight, and tomorrow we will begin a 3 day
birding bonanza starting with a 4AM departure for the Westport pelagic trip
tomorrow. Hopefully our 3-day weekend will secure him at least one new
lifer, or perhaps several if we are lucky. I figure he needs at least one
a year to keep life worth living.....

Two of his most desired area-wide targets are Slaty-backed Gull
(Gog-le-hi-te) and Sharp-tailed Sandpiper.

If anyone hears of a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (or anything else of note)
showing up in Western WA, BC, or really anywhere within a day's drive of
Seattle between Saturday and Monday, please shoot me an email (
ncpeters at uw.edu). I know of many good places to look, but there is a lot
of area to cover, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, I saw the Gog-le-hi-te Slaty-backed Gull last year, but if anyone has
any new information that could be helpful in locating it this year, please
pass it on.
