Today I happened to see something that was so interesting I have to share it with the list.

This morning I was in my home office when I noticed a commotion by our fence. It turned out to be a sharp-shinned hawk chasing a stellar jay. That, in itself, was no big deal but then it appeared that the jay was teasing the hawk. The hawk, after missing a strike would settle on the fence and the jay would set down within 5-6 feet. The hawk would then try again to catch the jay, miss, and then repeat. This when on for about 15 minutes with the hawk never catching the jay and the jay appearing to enjoy the teasing. Finally, the hawk gave up and flew away. Throughout this evolution the jay never seemed to fear the hawk.

Is this a common behavior? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A good local pub has much in common with a church, except that a pub is warmer, and there?s more conversation.
