Hello Tweeters,

My daughter and I visited the Maryhill Museum of Art in Goldendale,
WA today. It wasn?t a birding trip but I had my binocular around my neck
just in case a good bird showed up. I was rewarded many times over. When
we got there this morning there were some migrants in the trees around the
place. There were gobs of Yellow-rumped Warblers. The trees were full of
them, could have been a hundred easily. A Robin was fussing at someone.
The object of its attention turned out to be a Say?s Phoebe, a nifty bird
that I haven?t seen in a while so I was pleased. I longed to sort through
the Yellow-rumps to see if I could find a hidden gem, but my daughter is
not a birder and was eager to tour the museum so I had to pass.

When we were leaving in the afternoon there were still loads of Rumps in
the trees. Suddenly, zoooom...a Merlin snatched a smallish-bird, and took
off with it. One fewer Rump most likely. Btw, it was a dark Merlin,
unlike the light-ish Merlin I saw in the Okanogan on 9/6.
