Hello,

I saw a long-necked, long-legged, broad-winged bird flying over Lord Hill
Regional Park the first week of October--its neck was stretched out like a
crane's, not tucked in like a heron's, and it had long legs trailing behind
it--seemed to be too long for a goose-like bird. I hope this link to a
not-so-hot photo of it will work (taking you to Flickr)...I only have a
little point-and-shoot camera that isn't so great for catching large,
distant birds in flight against a gray sky! I would love to know if anyone
has any insight into what it might be. It looked plain gray, no distinctive
markings from afar (but that could be the Fall Gray Sky effect!).

My "wish list" brain said "sandhill crane!" but I know all too well how
that part of my mind urges me to think I'm seeing something uncommon when
it's actually something typical :)
