Thank you to everyone who took the time to confirm that the big gray bird I
saw in silhouette in Snohomish County flying overhead was indeed a Sandhill
Crane. What a thrill it was to see that bird. I am truly enjoying seeing
birds in my new part of the world ("new" meaning Eastside as opposed to
Seattle proper). A Cooper's Hawk landed in the branch outside my home
office window just the other day and sat there for 30 seconds peering
in--just wonderful.
