Pamela Myers' W. SCRUB-JAY must have been the same bird I had just southeast near Marysville's Boulevard grocery today:

In addition, I mentioned in my last post that Oct. 4 was quite a good day in Skagit Co, mentioning EBird reports left. At the Mt. Hardy burn, I had a close study on Skagit Co's 3rd BOREAL CHICKADEE, no photo, however. And Finney Creek Rd. south of Concrete was incredibly good for forest owls--7-8 birds of five species, and GREAT HORNED wasn't one of them. To add to Gary's post, my sense is that we are having the best fall in recent memory for N. PYGMY-OWL, which makes sense given a great local breeding season (please note that I have both video and photo of this species on flickr near the SCRUB-JAY). Also along Finney Creek back on the 4th were a late SWAINSON'S THRUSH and a somewhat downslope CLARK'S NUTCRACKER.
