A good day at Magnuson - Tony Angell had some great luck at the Magnuson P-Patch this morning and I had a spot of good luck on Kite Hill this evening, having a Barn Owl slip by my left shoulder on its way, I'm sure, to an easy meal at the garden rattery.

Looks like the P-Patch, like the one at Marymoor Park, is drawing avian attention in its final stages, from the passerine "tribes", as Tony put it, the zippy raptors and the evening owl rodent patrol. Time to pull up a pumpkin, have a seat and give these birds some attention !

Here's Tony's note about the Merlin:

> This AM. Sitting in the organic garden at Magnuson amid the frantic clouds of gold finches and tribes of young white crowned and golden crowned sparrows and wondering when a merlin might make an appearance. I waited only a few minutes when a male merlin swept in at what was surely close to sixty mph and scattered the feathered masses into the beds of kale, chard, sunflowers and tomatoes. He made at least three round house flights to stoop over the field and then flew off over the tennis facilities' buildings empty footed.
