Hi,
Went up with Connie yesterday for the Little Stint in Sidney, Vancouver Island, BC. Arrived too late yesterday, nearer to high tide - and the only shorebirds were on a floating raft. The Stint could not be found. So we stayed the night and were rewarded with decent looks this morning. Being there on a rising tide seems to be best.
A good look is needed to distinguish from Western and/or Least Sandpipers. The birds today were moving around a lot and often the lighting was tricky. Eventually we had the bird in good light and could discern all the critical field marks.
The location is only a few minutes drive from the ferry terminal (Swartz Bay).
Cheers, Steve
