Hi,
I participated in one of the boat trips this morning off Edmonds. Birds were good but nothing surprising.
However we spotted a dorsal fin cutting through the water fairly close. At first we thought it was going to be a Harbor Porpoise. It was not a Harbor or Dall's Porpoise or an Orca. But the large fin took a straight path and the fin did not disappear - ie: it did not dive or change its depth while in view. We were not far from shore between Meadowdale Beach and Brackett's Landing.
Frank Snow told us that there had been a recent sighting of a Basking Shark off Edmonds and we were able to convince ourselves that was indeed the shark! A mega of the day. Unfortunately no cameras were available. Frank drew our attention to images of the Basking Shark on the internet for us to compare while we were on the boat.
Very exciting!
Cheers, Steve
