Dear Tweeters,

I tried for close to two hours this evening (9-11-14) to relocate the reported Ovenbird at Ship Harbor in Anacortes, to no avail. Since the original birder had found it by playing a recording of an Eastern Screech Owl, I came ready with a recording of that species, but as Ryan Merrill explained to me, Ovenbirds can be reclusive in the fall. Ship Harbor is a beautiful place to bird, so it wasn't a waste of an evening. I did see a Fox Sparrow and a Yellow Warbler there, 25 bird species in all. Oh, and there were several gazillion cottontail rabbits there as well.

Yours truly,
