Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 25. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A CHIMNEY SWIFT was seen the evenings of September 21 and 22 at the Agate
Hall Chimney roost in Eugene. An offshore boat trip September 22 reported
several SKUAS and a MURPHY? PETREL off Lincoln County. A LITTLE GULL is now
being seen at Agency Lake north of Klamath Falls. On September 18 a
BLACKPOLL WARBLER and a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW were at Fields.

The first TROPICAL KINGBIRD of the season was at Cape Blanco September 21.
Migrant flocks of CACKLING and WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were reported September
22 and 23. Migrant COMMON and ARCTIC TERNS were reported along the coast.
Good numbers of ELEGANT TERNS, BROWN PELICANS, and HEERMANN?S GULLS continue
along the coast.

Birding was exceptional during the week about Sturgeon Lake on Sauvie
Island. A RUFF, three RED KNOTS, two SABINE?S GULLS, three SANDERLINGS, six
MARBLED GODWITS, a FRANKLIN?S GULL, 11 COMMON TERNS, 104 BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS, and two GOLDEN-PLOVERS were reported. On September 23 a BLACK SWIFT
was at Coon Point on the Island.

A SABINE?S GULL was seen September 24 at Broughton Beach near the Portland
Airport. On September 18 a NIGHTHAWK was over northeast Portland. That day a
BLACK-NECKED STILT was at Baskett Slough NWR and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was at
the EE Wilson SWA. On September 17 a SANDERLING was along Eicher Road east
of Albany. A SAY?S PHOEBE was at Finley NWR September 21. That day two
SABINE?S GULLS and 14 COMMON TERNS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On September 22 a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was at Thorn Springs north of
Sisters. Four COMMON TERNS were seen September 20 on Upper Klamath Lake.
