As if yesterday's weather didn't announce the change of seasons loudly enough, the cheery, rolling song of a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in my south Seattle yard this morning clinched it. Only the keyless, throaty call of a Varied Thrush could be more unequivocal. I'm still holding out for that.
