The former public golf course at Lake Ballinger has been converted to a public park by the city of Mountlake Terrace. Many of us have photographed? birds in the park including the resident nesting pair of bald eagles, kingfishers, and hawks plus migratory flocks of Canada geese, widgeons, greater white-fronted geese, and hooded mergansers.? Summer residents such as swallows have entertained us as well. ? The lake itself hosts water fowl including mallards and common mergansers.? ?
The city of Mountlake Terrace is holding a public meeting on 4/14 to discuss the master plan for the park.? I feel the park has great potential to serve as a habitat for birds.?? Those who feel likewise may want to attend the meeting.
