Hi Tweets,

The annual birding conference of the Washington Ornithological Society
(WOS), featuring ocean trips, field trips, workshops and evening
entertainment, will be held August 21-24, 2015 in Ocean Shores, WA.

The conference will offer 14 field trips each day on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday. In addition, there will be chase trips and going-home trips on
Monday.

This year, the conference also will feature a total of six workshops on
Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Topics include shorebirds, seabirds,
raptors, identification by shape, and museum specimens. Leaders of these
workshops are Dennis Paulson, Jim Danzenbaker, Michael Donahue, Michelle
Landis, Scott Mills, Peter Wimberger and Gary Shugart.

A pelagic trip, through Westport Seabirds, will be offered Friday, Saturday
and Sunday. Reserve your spot with Westport Seabirds not WOS. (
http://www.westportseabirds.com; pmand001 at comcast.net; 360-268-9141.) You
must be a WOS member and each member is allowed only one pelagic trip.
Reservations are being taken now.

A Stump the Experts panel competition will be held Friday night, led by
Dennis Paulson. Bill Tweit will speak Saturday night on "Westport Seabirds
1970-2015, A History of the Birds and People." And on Sunday, Peter Hodum
will discuss his work off of Chile on Pink-footed Shearwaters and other
issues.

Lodging is predicted to be tight, so make your reservations as soon as
possible. The conference will be headquarted at the Shilo Inn, where we've
reserved a block of 70 rooms at a discounted price. Call 360-289-4600 and
mention that you are attending the WOS Conference in August. We've also
reserved 15 rooms at the Quality Inn, next to the Shilo. Call the Quality
at 360-289-2040 and mention the WOS Conference.

Full information about the conference will be available in early April in
the WOS newsletter and on the website (http://wos.org). All conference
attendees must be WOS members. You can join WOS on the website.

Online registration at http://wos.org opens at noon on June 1, 2015, and
it's recommended that you register as early as possible, because field trip
spots fill quickly.

Sincerely,
Shep Thorp, WOS Board member, registration 2015 Conference
