Tweeter's Community,

Aloha!

Wednesday at Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge we had around 35
participants for our weekly walk. We started at 8am and a few of us made it
to the end by 2pm. Normally Phil or Shep will put together the reports on
Tweeters or eBird, but this week both of our leaders were gone and made the
unfortunate decision to let me lead the walk and compose the reports. So
here is my very first "tweet" of all time!

Some Points of interest: Our CACKLING GEESE continue in large numbers.
However they include much more taverner's than our wintering population. We
also observed what we believed to be two Alutians. Full neck collars that
wrapped around the neck and boxy shaped heads. One AMERICAN X EURASIAN
WIGEON hybrid continues adjacent to the twin barns. One FOY VAUX'S SWIFT
was seen over the flooded fields to the south of the barns. CINNAMON TEAL
numbers continue to increase. WOOD DUCKS are entering the tree cavities and
HOODED MERGANSERS are using the duck boxes around the visitor pond. An
OSPREY and CASPIAN TERN were fishing off of Mcallister Creek. Three RUFUOUS
HUMMING BIRD nests were found on the inner boardwalk. CLIFF SWALLOWS are
beginning to build nests on the twin barns. Three BUSHTIT nest have been
found this year. Only one nest was found the previous year. Below is found
the full list from eBird.
