Yesterday afternoon my son David and I counted a dozen Lewis's Woodpeckers flycatching over the Naches River along Hwy 410 between mp 113.5 and 115, which is about a mile and a half west of the junction with hwy 12 west of Naches. The woodpeckers were both sallying forth from perches like flycatchers and chasing insects in the air like big dark clumsy swallows. We tried for photos but without much success.
