Hello Tweets,
This year is shaping up to be a fine one for Nashville Warblers in Puget Sound! I hope I can find another one. They sure are pretty warblers! I've also noticed numerous Townsend's Solitaire reports across King County and beyond. Having gotten my first good look at one only a week or two ago in Spokane (and no photos), I wouldn't mind another chance at snapping a picture of one!
Anyways, onto the main point: I'll be camping with my Boy Scout troop down at Cape Disappointment State Park this weekend, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect. Apparently, loons (all lifers) have been seen in great numbers the last week of April in past years.
I know that there are some Red Crossbills there. Can I expect any significant passerine migration? It is along the mighty Columbia, after all.
Also, what about shorebirds? Where should I look? Finally, I am lucky enough to get to go on a Coast Guard boat out toward the mouth of the Columbia. Besides Brown Pelicans, what can I expect to see out there? Shearwaters or auklets? Maybe even a murrelet (any of which would be a lifer)...
Thanks for your help!
On another note, my yard is alive with birds this morning. I just heard both the display drums of a Red-breasted Sapsucker, and a couple FOY Wilson's Warblers and a Townsend's Warbler are singing! A few Pacific-slope Flycatchers are calling too, and I saw one well two days ago. Purple Finches were literally non-existent in my yard a week ago; now I have at least two singing males, as well as a male House (also scarce in my yard)!
Oh, and speaking of Nashville Warblers: my previous photo was a game of "Where's Warblo?" for many who saw it. I uploaded a clearer, though darker, pic online. All documentation shots, but I got great views!

I've also got a few shots uploaded of a Storm wigeon (white-cheeked American variant) and male Eurasian Wigeon at Green Lake in December, if you're interested!
Good birding in this fine, wonderfully Nashville-y spring, Joshua Glant
