Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 30. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 23 a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Malheur NWR Headquarters. A
YELLOW-BILLED LOON was reported April 26 at Coos Bay. On April 29 a WHITE
WAGTAIL was photographed at Baskett Slough NWR. A male BLUE GROSBEAK was
photographed that day at the Koll Wetlands in Beaverton.

The spring migration is now peaking in Oregon with WESTERN TANAGERS,
BULLOCK?S ORIOLES, LAZULI BUNTINGS, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, and WESTERN
KINGBIRDS being reported. Peak numbers of shorebirds are now being reported
including a group of ten SOLITARY SANDPIPERS at Sunset Park in Corvallis
April 25.

On April 25 an early SWAINSON?S THRUSH was at Steigerwald NWR. On April 28 a
lone WHITE PELICAN was near Scappoose and 24 were at Jackson Bottom in
Hillsboro. A flock of over 50 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were seen April 24 on a
farm field near Marquam in Clackamas County. An AVOCET was seen that day at
Baskett Slough NWR.

On April 22 an ACORN WOODPECKER was at Detroit Flats in the Cascades east of
Salem. Up to 6400 SWIFTS were seen April 26 entering the Agate Hall chimney
in Eugene. A BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD visited a Eugene feeder April 29. On
April 25 eight BLACK-NECKED STILTS and two AVOCETS were at Fern Ridge
Reservoir. A WILLET was hear April 27 at nearby Alvadore.
