Dear Tweetsters - I'm always working on improving my identification
skills and would be interested in any comments on the Magnuson Park
flycatcher shown in the pictures at this link that was posted on
Tweeters today (Monday)

The bird has an eye-ring but not much of one and no teardrop at the rear
-- so less prominent than typical Pacific-slope and more prominent than
Western Wood-Pewee, which supposedly does not have an eye-ring.

The bird appears to have a yellow or orangish lower mandible, which
would suggest Pacific-slope, but Western Wood-Pewee's lower mandible is
described at Birds of North America as "paler with dark tip or all
dark." And this subject bird could be described also as having a paler
lower mandible with dark tip. So the bill doesn't seem to be helping
with identification.

I put the two pictures through Cornell's Merlin photo ID app. It
identified the first photo as Western Wood-Pewee and the second photo as
Pacific-slope Flycatcher. So even digital analysis cannot make up its mind!

I'd love to hear some ID pointers and comments related to this bird.
