Tweets, a check of Hoquiam Sewage Treatment Ponds after high tide Sunday afternoon produced 275 MARBLED GODWITs (50 flew in later but were probably part of my original count), several each of LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, KILLDEER and GREAT BLUE HERON, good numbers of WESTERN and LEAST SANDPIPER of varying ages/plumages, plus a hundred or more each of CALIFORNIA GULL and CASPIAN TERN and nearly as many BROWN PELICAN. A GREAT EGRET was hiding out among the gull flock which included a few RING-BILLED and GLAUCOUS-WINGED. Waterfowl included mostly CANADA GEESE, MALLARD, several N. PINTAIL and GADWALL, a single GREEN-WINGED TEAL. Most interesting: an OSPREY bathing next to sleeping ducks/geese, and a brief view of a possible WANDERING TATTLER that flushed silently from the rocks on the middle pond's north edge. I just had time to note plain gray upperparts and prominent upper and lower eye crescents. I could not relocate the bird though it didn't seem to fly far. Good birding!
