Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 12 a possible LONG-BILLED MURRELET was seen off Boiler Bay.

The main movement of adult shorebirds have now passed Oregon. Now arriving
is a heavy movement of immature shorebirds. On July 8, 2500 WESTERN
SANDPIPERS, 400 LEAST SANDPIPERS, and 70 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were at Bandon
Marsh. 3500 WESTERN SANDPIPERS were on the beach north of Waldport August
10.

On August 7 a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVR was on the South Spit of the Siuslaw
River. On August 12 a RUDDY TURNSTONE, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW, and 440 ELEGANT
TERNS were at Coos Bay. On East Sand Island at the mouth of the Columbia
River August 10 were 70 ELEGANT TERNS and 18 WHITE PELICANS.

A WHIMBREL has been watched during the week at Broughton Beach and the
Portland Airport. On August 9 a SOOTY type FOX SPARROW was at Camp Adair
north of Corvallis. A COMMON TERN was at Fern Ridge Reservoir August 8. A
LONG-BILLED CURLEW and three BREWER?S SPARROWS were there August 12.

On August 10 a BLACK SWIFT was at the LaGrande Sewage Ponds.
