Subject: [Tweeters] Stanwood Eide Road - No Stilt Sandpiper

Hello all,
Due to unfavorable work schedules and unfavorable tides earlier this week I
waited until today to run up to Stanwood in search of the Stilt Sandpiper
until this morning. Alas, the STSA/STIS apparently has not been seen since
Tuesday. There were a few shorebirds present today, most of which were
Lesser Yellowlegs. I counted at least 26, which is a personal high count.
Oddly enough, I could not find a single Greater Yellowlegs among them.
Other birds present were a about ten Dowitchers, with both species
represented, a couple Killdeer, and a pathetic three Western Sandpipers and
two Least Sandpipers. A Long-Tailed Weasel was playing around the sandbags
in the same place I've seen one in prior years.

The water treatment plant had a Pectoral Sandpiper, a Least Sandpiper, and
a few Yellowlegs (unidentified since I only briefly saw them in flight)
along with the usual Killdeer. Duck diversity was a bit better with
highlights of several Scaup Sp., a Bufflehead, and a Barrow's Goldeneye
along with many, many more of the more expected species for the time of
year.
