Hi all,
With the Barn Swallows that traditionally nested within?a block of?Seward Park gone for at least?two years and precious few other hirundines, with the Kingfishers apparently not nesting, and the Pacific-slope Flycatchers quieting down early this year, swimming in Andrews Bay can be an eerily birdless experience this summer.? But as we got out of the water tonight, a Yellow Warbler dashed over our path to one of the Catalpas on the shore.? A nice reminder there's still cool birds out there.

If people don't mind a little gloom and doom mixed in here are some bird and other shots from the desert Southwest, which at least on the southern tier offers a lush counterpoint to the desert conditions up here:
