Hi Larry,

I've often seen them year 'round at high elevation streams and lakes. My husband and I backpack and I've even seen them at Robin Lakes (Tuck and Robin Lakes) at 6,300' elevation. This was last year. And in years past I've seen them at Lake Ann (Esmarelda Basin) at 6,500', Big Heart Lake at ~5,000', and at Glacier Lake at 4,900'.

Tweeters,
This week I found a dipper at Lake Annette near Snoqualmie Pass. I am wondering if the heat and the low levels of water are driving them out of their normal stream habitat and up to the mountain lakes. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?
