Subject: [Tweeters] Sooty Shearwater Extravaganza @ North Cove,

One of the most spectacular scenes I've ever witnessed in nearly 25 years
of birding, was on August 13, 2015, at North Cove, Pacific Co., WA. From
8:30PM - 9:00PM, a conservative estimate of 30,000+ Sooty Shearwaters, 3000
Heermann's Gull, 1000 California Gulls + others were feeding on some feeder
fish (smelt?) right along the shore there. We watched them incredululously
for nearly 30 minutes. One of the most memorable birding experiences of my
life. (Bill) J William Marr, made a video of the spectacle. Go to the
provided link. Let me know if it does not work. With Bob Schmidt and
Eleanor Marr. I'll let Bob post about our five-day whirlwind tour of the
North Cascades and our Olympic Peninsula adventure.
