Hey tweeters!
I went up to Sunrise yesterday, and after going through my photos I am
ready to post what I saw.
me and my dad hiked a total of 7 miles, up the sourdough ridge trail, past
Frozen Lake, up the first Burrough's mountain, then back down and past
Shadow Lake.
The weather was cloudy, foggy and cold, but with burst of sun and warmth.
sadly, the mountain was hidden by clouds except for a few partial glimpses.
I got lifers GRAY JAY, CLARK'S NUTCRACKER, CASSIN'S FINCH, and BREWER'S
SPARROW. I also enjoyed all the mountain specialties! As for mammals, we
saw some Marmots, lots of Chipmunks, some sort of deer, and something else
that looked kinda like a prairie dog.
uncommon birds were a BREWER'S SPARROW seen with the flock of Juncos by the
picnic area, and a NASHVILLE WARBLER seen on the trail down 1rst Burrough's
mountain towards Shadow Lake. And RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET tripped the ebird
filter, but I was unaware that they were rare up there.
I also saw a bird that I can't; quite decide if it's a Goshawk. if anyone
could help me that'd be great!!!
