Hello, tweets.

Netta Smith and I were at the pond at the end of Eide Road from 9-10 am yesterday 19 August, just after high tide. There was a roosting flock of about 2,000 Western Sandpipers, the only other shorebirds a juvenile Lesser Yellowlegs and 6 fly-by Killdeers.

The most interesting thing was the steady stream of adult Caspian Terns passing from south to north between us and Camano Island. I counted 55 in that period. Where were they coming from, going to?

A juvenile Peregrine Falcon finally came in and scared all the shorebirds away. Didn?t catch one, but it does have a happy hunting ground there.
