Today I was at Ridgefield NWR and observed a female Northern Harrier at the edge of the water. At first she just seemed to be sitting there, but when she took off she had collected a large amount of what appeared to be nesting materials, grasses and twigs.? I think if it was spring I'd say, so what?? But at this time of year I'm a bit perplexed.? Any explanations?
