Subject: [Tweeters] Lazuli Buntings on Mt Rainier

Spent July 4th at Paradise, Mt Rainier, enjoying the many, many different species of wildflowers. At about 5500' in green, meadow habitat with streams, at least two male Lazuli Buntings were singing heartily from small conifers. I do not remember encountering this species in this area before. 1) high 2) not the kind of drier, brushy habitat I associate with them 3) Wash Breeding Bird Atlas shows a localised range in Western Washington. Anything special going on with Lazuli Buntings? David
