Hello Tweets,

If you looked up Solitary Sandpipers on eBird since last evening, you may have noticed that the marker on Mercer Island has disappeared.

Yesterday evening, I discovered to my dismay that the call I had heard is shared between both Solitary and the much more numerous Spotted Sandpipers. And since I didn't record it, I have no way of knowing who made the call. Ah, well, such is the struggle of birding... My checklist now says "shorebird sp. - 1".

Maybe I'll hear a distinctive Solitary sometime, or maybe Spotteds will rule the sky. Either way, my enthusiasm isn't diminished one bit!

May all your birds be identified (if I may gently rip off this signature line from another Tweeter), Joshua Glant
