Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 27. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 20 a BALTIMORE ORIOLE was at Pistol River. A possible LONG-BILLED
MURRELET was seen August 23 at the North Jetty of the Siuslaw River. Four
probable PARAKEET AUKLETS were seen August 26 off Boiler Bay.

Night flights of SWAINSON'S THRUSHES were reported during the week.

Shorebird migration continues with seven MARBLED GODWITS at Bandon August
22. A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and 13 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were seen August 25
at New River south of Bandon. At the South Spit of the Siuslaw River August
18 were seven MARBLED GODWITS. The next day a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and a
WANDERING TATTLER were there.

On August 21 a COMMON TERN was at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.
Five SABINE'S GULLS were on Sturgeon Lake on Sauvie Island August 24. An
early MEW GULL, a SANDERLING, and two AVOCETS were seen there during the
week. Another SABINE'S GULL was at Broughton Beach August 26. Also at
Broughton Beach during the week were two AVOCETS, three SANDERLINGS, a
COMMON TERN, and a BLACK-NECKED STILT.

There are now two BREWER'S SPARROWS near Roy Rogers Road at the Tualatin
NWR. On August 24 an AVOCET was at Baskett Slough NWR. A group of five WHITE
PELICANS are now at Fords Pond near Roseburg. On August 22 an immature
LONG-TAILED JAEGER was at Wickiup Reservoir south of Bend.
