I'm researching a birding trip to Cuba. I'm borrowing the "Field Guide to the Birds of Cuba" by O. Garrido & A. Kirkconnell.
I have seen several options on Google. This will be my first time with any birding tour, so I seek recommendations by people who have experienced these tour guides/ agencies.

I have a limited income, and I will be taking vacation time from work. I speak relatively good Spanish, although I wish to work with a guide who is bilingual for speaking about the ecosystems and birds. What are the pros and cons of contracting with a birdingpal guide versus joining a tour company?

I welcome a conversation with any birder(s) who have already done this trip.

Muchas gracias,
