Dear Tweeters,
There were lots of fun birds in Skagit today.
Lin Folsom took a few of us for a boat ride; we saw 45 SURFBIRDS on Viti Rocks. At the Cypress Island salmon pens was a FRANKLIN'S GULL.
Later, Bob Kuntz, Kraig Kemper and I checked out Channel Drive. There weren't that many shorebirds, but we did see a Baird's Sandpiper and quite a few warblers. Then Kraig said, "What's that white bird over there?" A GREAT EGRET was perched in the top of a tree!
Later in the day, I found a juvenile RED KNOT at the Game Range, floating around with some other shorebirds on a log.
Best of all, it's raining now. Yay!
Yours truly,
Gary Bletsch
