Birders,



Since December 20, a well-marked HOARY REDPOLL has been present most of the
time at the same location in Queen Elizabeth Park, one of the main city
parks in Vancouver, BC. It has been seen with a small group of Common
Redpolls (usually less than 10), feeding on the seeds of white birch trees.
The location is close to the intersection of 33rd Avenue and Ontario Street
in Vancouver. Just SW of this intersection, in the park, is a small duck
pond which usually contains lots of ducks and Canada Geese. The birch trees
used by the redpolls are along the west side of this pond, and just to the
NW of it.



Hopefully the redpoll will stay in the area a few days longer, in case some
of you want to look for it. Redpolls are usually very flighty and wander
around a lot, but this group seems to have pretty much stayed put for 4 days
