I started out before light to try and find a barred owl near Green Lake. After sitting for about an hour with no owl sounds I started heading to Ridgefield NWR. I was on NW Krieger Rd and pulled over where large powerlines cross the road. The powerlines cross the refuge south of Campbell Lake. I rolled down the car window and soon heard what I assumed was a long-eared owl. I left the vehicle and walked to the edge of the cliff looking over the refuge and clearly heard the owl it called about 6 times. Campbell Lake is an area where I have had seow twice before both time in October. All in all I wanted a barred owl but will take a long-eared any day. Number 123 for the year.
