Hi,
Connie and I are just back from a 4 day trip to the Okanogan. Kind of slow in the Highlands but we did see a few noteworthy species. Some snow still around but many of the dirt roads extremely muddy with ruts to keep your attention.
c40 Rosy Finches at the Nealy Road feeders
c25 Snow Buntings from Hungary Hollow Road (nearer to Sitmark ski area) - distant view across fields by Muskrat Lake.
Several sightings of Clark's Nutcracker.
No luck with any grouse, Tree Sparrows or Redpolls.
On the way back up on Cameron Lake Loop Road we had Pygmy Nuthatches (bizarrely feeding on the ground) together with a couple of White-breasted Nuthatches and several Red Crossbills. Also we had a few Bohemian Waxwings in with lots of Cedar Waxwings - along Grange Road at Bridgeport. Golden Eagle near the junction of US97 and Highway 17 at Brewster
At Foster Creek we had a good look at a Porcupine in a tree.
In Leavenworth still a good number of Pine Grosbeaks in the neighborhood behind the Wells Fargo bank. Just drive around until you find the birds.
Cheers and good birding, Steve
