I hope we who feel sorrow about the find of a Long-eared Owl at the Port Susan Bay Reserve can try not too jump to conclusions about the cause(s) of death OR about whether or not this owl is the missing one from Leque Island (Eide Rd). Right now there are a lot of emotions governing actions and responses, and "blame" is being leveled right and left. We will be better served if we (myself included), can calm ourselves a bit, try for some patience, and wait for some facts to come in...

The cause of death is not yet known. That's all I know, right now at 9 a.m. Thursday Feb. 12.

I, and others, too will get word out when more is known.
