I enjoyed getting my fill of the warm sun on this bright new year's day
between 1pm and 4pm at Magnuson Park and doing a little casual birding. I
counted (21) species (not including gulls) and admired the frozen ponds and
stark trees. I like that the best birding happens when you sit down for a
while in a nice spot and let the birds find you. Here's the list:

Red-tailed Hawk
Golden-crowned Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Fox Sparrow
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Marsh Wren
Bewick?s Wren
Red-winged Blackbird
Bushtit
Black-capped Chickadee
Dark-eyed Junco
Eurasian Wigeon
Ring-necked Duck
Green-winged Teal
Bufflehead
Northern Shoveler
Mallard
American Coot
European Starlings
American Crow
