Yesterday I drove to McNary Dam and was able to observe the BLACK-HEADED
GULL on the ice of Frog Pond. Bob Bagwell and I then went to the
Washington side of the river and birded in Plymouth Park. At the first
gated road into the park on the upriver side we followed the wooded section
of the lake and found four PURPLE FINCH. There was evidence of Northern
Saw-whet Owl having been there, but we could not find any in the conifers.
There were more than 48 WOOD DUCK and we counted 36 REDHEAD. There were 85
RING-NECKED DUCK and 236 AMERICAN WIGEON. We had 31 species for the park.
