Hello Christina,

Beautiful bird. It appears to be a hybrid male. The malar stripe (mustachial stripe) is red in Red-shafted and black in Yellow-shafted males.This bird has yellow wing and tail feathers and red malar stripes. It also has a gray, not brown face.

Hello, these are the through-a-window pix I took of a yellow-shafted flicker in my Woodinville garden this morning. At least I assume it is a Yellow-Shafted Flicker and not a Red-Shafted Flicker who just tends toward yellow :)
