My daughter and I spotted our first ever Snowy Owl on Dwight Halsey Road (south of Asotin along the Idaho boarder) late afternoon on Friday. It was sitting along a snow covered ditch right next to the road. As soon as we spotted it from the car and before I could even raise my camera, it flew about 50 yards along the road and perched on a post. As we eased down the road it flew another 50 yards and perched on mile marker 4 for just a moment and then flew away disappearing into the fog. We waited in the area for about 90 minutes and it didn't return. We went back to the same area for a couple of hours on Saturday morning and didn't see it again. The fog was very dense and visibility was limited. It was awesome to see even though I was unsuccessful at getting any shots of it. The quest has officially begun!
