Have never seen Evening Grosbeaks in my garden in Cottage Lake
(Woodinville) but this morning 27 of them were perched for a long time,
just resting, in a tree in the front yard.

Busy backyard feeder activity too...the usual Chestnut-Backed and
Black-Capped Chickadees, House Finches, Spotted Towhees, Song Sparrows, one
Red-Breasted Nuthatch, three Red-Shafted Flickers (though no reappearance
by the yellow-feathered Red Shafted Intergrade beauty), one Steller's Jay,
two Pine Siskins, one Varied Thrush...

Plus a first-time appearance of a Band-Tailed Pigeon!

Kind of a scraggly-looking bird...struck me as kind of skinny, and as if
one shoulder were "dropped," with sort of damp-looking feathers on the neck
and shoulder...made me wonder if it'd had a close escape from a raptor. But
it flew well enough, and fed heartily.
