Dear Tweeters,
Since the football game is going so badly, it turned out to be a pretty good idea for me to go birding this morning, 18 January 2015, after last night's tremendous windstorm. Here are some highlights.
Herring Gull, one on Minkler Flats (in a field by the junction of Hoehn Road and Minkler Road).
Thayer's Gull, one at the Rotary Field in Burlington ?(at the south end of Skagit River Park, and not at the fields that are near Lucille Umbarger School, although those are also called Rotary Fields).
BOHEMIAN WAXWING, one with thirteen Cedar Waxwings at fruiting trees alongside the east edge of the parking area at Skagit River Park in Burlington.
Rotary Fields are basically just a southward extension of the soccer fields in Burlington. The complex can be driven via the main entrance at the junction of Gilkey and Skagit Streets. It's a good place to look at gulls when it's rainy and nasty out--as it is today!
Yours truly,
Gary Bletsch
